In the video you can watch, in order: Love’s Geometries by Fabio Vacchi (world premiere), the Adagietto from the 5th Symphony by Gustav Mahler and the Symphony  No. 22, The Philosopher, by  Haydn.

On November 25th we open our XV Season

Tuesday, November 25th at 9:00 pm, at the Auditorium di Milano, we open our season 2014/2015.
On the podium, our Music Director, Alessandro Crudele.
Soloist, the German pianist Martin Helmchen who continues to make his impression on the international music scene, playing with the most important orchestras and conductors.

The programme of the concert includes the seldom performed Beethoven’s Overture Koenig Stephan, the Concert for piano and orchestra No. 17 by Mozart, the homage to the german composer recently dead, Hans Werner Henze, and the Variations on a Theme of Haydn by Brahms.

We remain the only symphonic season with free entrance  (and without reservation duties).

Orchestra UniMi has been invited  to perform, next September 6th at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, for the CultureALL Festival. Conductor  John Axelrod.

Ludwig van Beethoven: Ruinen des Athens Op. 113 –  Overture

Gustav Mahler: Adagietto from Symphony No. 5

Leonard Bernstein: Serenade after Plato’s Symposium

Fabio Vacchi: Love’s Geometries (world premiere)

Franz Joseph Haydn: Symphony No. 22, E flat major, “The Philosopher”

 

On September 5th, in the same Teatro Olimpico, the Orchestra UniMi String Quartet will play with the  violinist Rachel Kolly d’Alba and the pianist Christian Chamorel the Concert for violin, piano and string quartet D major Op. 21 by Ernest Chausson.

The season 2014/2015

On Novembre 25th 2014 we will open in the Auditorium di Milano our season 2014/2015.

In a very important year for Milan, because of Expo 2015, we presents the most rich season of our history.

A longer season, with more concerts and, as usual, conductors and soloists of international level.

The programme of our 15th season will be presented in October  in a press-conference.

27 May: with the great german pianist Gerhard Oppitz we end our 14th season

After nearly 10 years from his last performance in Italy, comes back for a concert in Milan, with our orchestra, the great pianist Gerhard Oppitz, maybe the last heir of a great interpreters’ generation of the german piano repertoire that descends from the legendary Wilhelm Kempff.

With Oppitz we will perform the Beethoven’s Piano Concert No. 3.

The programme of the concert which ends, in the Sala Verdi of the Conservatoire, our season 2013/2014, proposes moreover the performance of Innerlied (world premiere), by the young composer Orazio Sciortino and of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 5.

Indaco String Quartet, composed by musicians of the Orchestra UniMi and only italian finalist quartet of the 2014 edition of the prestigious International String Quartet Competion “Premio Paolo Borciani”, will perform an extraordinary concert on next 13th May.

Indaco String Quartet will propose to our audience the same programme they will present at the final of the “Premio Borciani”, at the end of the month.

6 May: HEIKO MATHIAS FOERSTER conducts Orchestra UniMi

Guest conductor of a great number of orchestras all over the world and since 2007 chief conductor of the Neue Philharmonie Westphalen, Heiko Mathias Foerster, for the first time in Milan, will conduct Orchestra UniMi in a programme that, in addition to the Janáček’s Adagio and the Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, will propose the Rhapsody for viola and orchestra by Martinů. Soloist the Czech violist Jitka Hosprová.

18 March: Alessandro Crudele conducts Berwald

The swedish composer  Franz Berwald (first half 1800), is the heart of the programme suggested by our musical conductor, Alessandro Crudele, who offers an excursus into the scandinavian musical school – of which  Berwald is considered the forerunner – also through pieces by Jan Sibelius (Canzonetta) and Arvo Paert (Fratres). By Berwald we will listen to the most important and beautiful symphony, the No. 3 Sinfonie Singulière and the concert for bassoon; soloist, the italian Philipp Tutzer, winner in 2008 of the German Radio ARD International Award and since 2007 first soloist bassoon of the Mozarteum Salzburg.

The programme offers the Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 “Military”, the Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 – soloist Elena Chiavegato, winner of the first edition (2013) of the ” Paolo Mantegazza” Prize (soloist with orchestra selection), patronized by the Orchestra UniMi in collaboration with  the Conservatory of Milan – and, for the serie “contemporary music”, Tornado (2011) by the Dutch composer Patrick van Deurzen,

28 January: the violinist Margherita Miramonti guest of the first chamber concert

The violinst Margherita Miramonti, winner of the Prize Academia Servorum Scientiae 2013 of the Milan Conservatoire and already awarded prizes  in many national and international competitions, opens, in the University Concert Hall, the chamber music season.

With the pianist Claudio Gay, the very young Milanese violinist performs two masterpieces of the literature for violin and piano: the Beethoven’s Sonata No. 9 “Kreutzer” and the Schumann’s Sonata No. 2.
